We are saddened to announce the passing of Helvi Saharinen, age 97, May 29, 2024, at home with family by her side.
Born in Lappajarvi, Finland in 1926, she immigrated to Canada in 1956 to start a family. She enjoyed spending many summers with family and friends at Warnica Lake. She was an accomplished seamstress, an avid gardener and a member of Hilldale Lutheran Church.
She was Aiti to Jorma (Colleen), Raimo and Seija (Dean) and Mummu to Lindsay, Katrina (Chris), Cody, Morgan and Sean. Isoisoaiti to Olivia, Jack and Ainsley.
Aiti was predeceased by her husband Einari in 1961, Vaino in 2017, Kaino in 2016, Tauno in 2012 along with parents and siblings in Finland.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a family service will be held at Riverside Cemetery. Arrangements in care of EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of St Elizabeth, Dr. Miller, M. Ross and HomeCare NW for all the care provided. We are ever so grateful.
