It is with profound sadness the family of Henry E. Siemens of Thunder Bay, Ontario announce his passing Wednesday May 15, 2024 at 85 years of age.

Henry was the eldest fraternal twin born to Alfred and Sarah Siemens in October 1938.

He grew-up in Carmen, Manitoba and enjoyed may adventures he had with his twin Brother Peter and younger Brother Ron. Henry hunted, fished and started working at the young age of 14 at nearby farms in surrounding communities to help contribute to his parents and brothers at home, while he also continued his education. Henry has always been a kind, caring and compassionate family man.

In his early twenties Henry was very happy to work as a Crane-Operator for INCO in Thompson, MB. He had many fond memories of this experience.

During 1965 Henry met the love of his life, Yvette Paradis in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They both enjoyed music and went dancing every Saturday night. Henry and Yvette married the following year in November 1966. To begin their wonderful life together, they decided to move from Winnipeg to Thunder Bay, Ontario, where Yvette was originally from. Life was happy and they welcomed their only child, Daughter Diane in March of 1971.

Henry’s most cherished career choice and his favorite memories to share, was his time and experiences working for Shell Canada as a fuel truck delivery driver. He proudly enjoyed driving b-trains, and was exceptionally good at, winning many awards at the truck rodeos. Henry worked the majority of his life at Shell Canada and only retired when the plant in Thunder Bay was being shut down. With his dedicated work ethic and his devotion to spoiling his family, Henry decided he was too young to fully retire and continued driving b-trains but instead of fuel hauled wood chips. Many good memories were made then at DTL Trucking. Henry was a hard worker, with a humorous personality, making friends with everyone. When he did finally retire later in life, it was only due to health reasons.

When Henry was not working, he could be found tinkering in his garage, shining or fixing his vehicle, sitting on his back door step or spoiling his Daughter Diane (which was his #1 hobby) .Henry and Yvette’s story continued for 58 wonderful years of marriage, until she passed away in March of 2023. A piece of his heart went with her that very sad day.

Henry was pre-deceased by his loving wife Yvette, Parents Alfred and Sarah Siemens, twin Brother Peter, Parents-In-Law Frank and Yvonne Paradis and Sister-In-Law Lorraine. Henry will be sadly missed everyday by his Daughter Diane and her husband Dan, his Step-Grandson Kyle, Dan’s Father Don, Brother Ron, Sister-In-Law Jeanette and her Husband Jim Frizzle, Sister-In-Law Annette and numerous Nieces and Nephews (sadly too many to mention).

A special thank you to Brother Ron and Niece Bonnie for rushing to Thunder Bay to see Henry in his final days and support Diane and Family. Also, a special thank you goes out to St. Joseph’s hospital, Dr. De Bakker, without you we may not of had this time to say bye, to Dr Shojaei for managing Henry’s pain and making him comfortable, Dr. Bon for handling Henry’s passing and to the exceptional staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital on 5 South who helped look after Henry and assist his Daughter Diane.

A celebration of life for Henry Siemens and his wife Yvette Siemens, will be held together and will take place on Thursday June 27, 2024, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm in the reception hall of Harbourview Funeral Centre, with words of tribute at 1:00 pm. If friends so desire donations may be made in Henry’s memory to St. Joseph’s Hospital by calling (807) 768-4440.
