Mr. John (Jack) McGuire, passed away peacefully after a short illness, Wednesday May 17, 2023, with his family by his side.

Jack was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia February 15, 1932. He was a Police Officer for 35 years with the Port Arthur Police Department then the City of Thunder Bay Police Department, retiring as a Detective Sergeant with Criminal Investigations. He was instrumental in the creation of the Creighton Youth Centre; The Jack McGuire Centre and Jack’s Place which were named in his honour, but were closed by Doug Ford. He was very active in coaching hockey for the Current River Comets and watching his kids, grandkids and great grandkids play hockey for many years.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret in 2006 after 50 years of marriage; brothers Frank, Edward and Len, and 2 sisters June and Mary.

Jack is survived by children Tedda (Montte), Barry (Cathy), Dorothy, Jacquelyn (Chris). Grandchildren Shannon, John (Dawn), Karlie (Chris), Meghan (Brad), Patrick (Jess), Evan (Tess), Taylor, Brooke, Kyler, Russell, Alex and Zach. His Great grandchildren Devlyn, Caitlyn, Kieran, Landon, Nolan, Aubrey, Jack, Finley, Jack, Ben and Brooks. He is also survived by his brother Lad, sister Pat and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Jack will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023 leaving the Harbourview Funeral Centre at 10:30 a.m. to Our Lady of Loretto Church, 290 Grenville Ave, where the Funeral Mass will be Celebrated by Fr. Francis Pudicherry at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment will follow in St. Andrew’s Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. with vigil prayers beginning at 7:00 p.m.
