It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Janina (Jay) McLean on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.  Jay was born on June 29, 1946 in Alfred Germany during World War 2.  She was predeceased by her parents Sofia and Felix Kluga.  She was survived by her sister Colleen Gold; brother Walter Kluga; nephew Sean Gold; niece Alison Gold and great niece Sophia Jah Gold.

She leaves behind her beloved pets, Rusty and Penny (Pen-Pen).  She was loved dearly by her best friend Sandy Raycevic and held many years of friendship together; as well as her close friends Linda Lee Bonnett, Cory Bonnett, and granddaughter Delinda. She will be dearly missed by her stepdaughter Kerri Mclean and grandchildren Christian and Amelia Mclean. She loved her grandchildren/great niece beyond words and they all brought her so much joy! She was so proud of ALL of them and as Sophia says “Auntie Jay is so happy”.  Great Auntie Jay kept up with the times and was always so interested in Sophia’s next interest between, dinosaurs, giraffes, Paw Patrol and My Little Pony.

She was a sister and “Auntie” to us; Grandma Jay and the cornerstone of our family.

Throughout her career, Jay worked at Bell as a Supervisor for 25 years. She retired in 1999 to care for her father, giving effortlessly to those she loved. During her retirement years, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, both in person and virtually. She had a love for knitting and crocheting, blankets, hats, stuffed animals and toys. She developed a real skill and talent that made people always take a 2nd look.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Jay, know that she will be sorely missed. She had a real passion for helping animals and tried to do what she could during her time on earth. Cremation has taken place as per her wish and a Celebration of life will take place at a later time.

To carry her legacy and in her honor, donations can be made to Kitty Care or Northern Dog Rescue.
