It is with great sadness that the family of Jessie Nelson announces her peaceful passing into the loving arms of God on April 17th, 2025. She is now reunited with her loving husband Robert of 49 happy years. Jessie was 83 years old and had a full and wonderful life. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was her daughter and granddaughter’s best friend and the light of their lives. Jessie will be dearly missed by her daughter Lisa, son-in-law Richard, granddaughter Jessica, and sisters Polly (Gene Labelle), Patty (Marino Marson), and Jackie (Drew Trapp), and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving her are her loving pets. Predeceased by her parents Paul and Mary Kolisnyk, in-laws Claus and Virgie Nelson, and niece Cora Marson.
Jessie was born on June 1st, 1941, in Fort William, Ontario. She attended Crawford Street School and Selkirk Vocational Institute, where she met the love of her life, Robert. They were married on September 29th, 1962. Jessie was the most cheerful, positive, loving, and generous person to all. She was always smiling and had a great sense of humour. Her greatest enjoyment was time spent with her family, friends, pets, as well as at her cottage on West Floral Beach. She loved travelling to Florida and the Caribbean yearly with her family and made many beautiful memories.
A woman of unwavering Christian faith, she was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church. In her younger years, she enjoyed working at Brodie Street Library and later as a Telephone Operator Supervisor at Bell Telephone, where she made many wonderful friendships. After Lisa was born, they decided that Jessie would stay home with Lisa to make a wonderful and loving home for the family.
Jessie’s beautiful memory and love will live on in our hearts forever.
The Funeral Service and celebration of Jessie’s life will be held on Saturday, April 26th at 11:00am at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2820 Donald Street East (corner of Donald and Edward Streets). Cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Calvary Lutheran Church, The Salvation Army, or The Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
