John was born in Nipigon on February 23, 1950 (a year to the day after his big sister Betty). He was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces. He had a long career as a truck driver, hauling various materials over the course of his career. He was very proud of his Indigenous heritage. He was a dedicated Toronto Maple Leafs fan and loved his girls tremendously. He enjoyed discovering new casinos on their many travels and was always up for a game of crib (always for money of course!). Most recently his favourite pastime was anything involving his beautiful granddaughter Makenna who was the light of his life.

Cremation has taken place. Internment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens at a later date.

A celebration of life for family and friends will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023, from 1-3 pm at Harbourview Funeral Centre. Remembrances will begin at 1:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre - Cardiac Care, Cancer Care or Diabetes Health, Thunder Bay and District Humane Society or The Underground Gym would be greatly appreciated.
