It is with great sadness that the family of John De Grazia announces his passing on December 15, 2024 at the age of 83.
John was born on December 29, 1940 in Lago, Cosenza, Italy to Adelfio and Vittoria De Grazia. He immigrated to Canada in 1954 and later met his wife, Joyce. They were married for 64 years making wonderful memories together. John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
John was an accomplished mechanic by trade. He was the owner and operator of John’s Texaco and John’s Automotive, until his retirement. John was an avid bowler, golfer, hunter, fisherman and enjoyed making homemade wine and sausage, growing his own tomatoes and peppers, and attending his grandchildren’s activities – whether it was a bowling, golf, hockey, or dance event, he’d be there. John was also an active member of the Antique Car Club and Italian Cultural Centre.
John is survived by his wife Joyce; children John (Alison), Don (Joan), Mike (Chantal) and Carol-Ann (Luigi); grandchildren Greg, Joey, Evan (Alessandra), Amy, Cassie, Ashley, Kelsey, Nicholas, Jonelle, Reily, and Sarah; great-grandchildren Jaxon and Annelie; brothers Tony (Jo) and Angelo; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Adelfio and Vittoria; father and mother-in-law Ture and Hulda Green; brothers Frank and Carmine; and in-laws Carolina, Antonetta, Mary, Eric, Sven, Ruth and Carlos.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel. If desired, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.sargentandson.com.
