John "Roy" MacDougall
June 22, 1931 - July 14, 2016

John “Roy” MacDougall passed away July 14, 2016 at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital at the age of 85 years.

Roy was born in Petrolia, Ontario to John and Ruby MacDougall of Wyoming, Ontario.

Roy was a member of local 628 for 60 years and worked all across Canada as a pipeline welder and then as a foreman, retiring at the age of 62. He and Norma spent many of their winters in Florida avoiding the cold and snow. He loved shuffling on the courts at the park and they both made  wonderful friends there. "Captain" Roy spent many summers at Obonga Lake with great friends and enjoyed motoring around and fishing on his pontoon boat. He also spent his time creating stain glass artwork that is treasured by many and can be seen in almost every window of the house.

Roy is survived by his wife Norma (nee McPeek) and their children John (Seija), Cindy, Rob (Loretta), 7 grandchildren, brother Lorne (Ilene), and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son Barry, his parents and 2 brothers, Peter and Gordon.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Roy’s life will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.  in the chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 N. Cumberland Street,  presided by Rev. Gordon Holroyd.

Visitation with family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service . A reception for family and friends will be held after the service. In lieu of flowers donations to the TBRHSC Northern Cardiac Fund or a charity of choice would be appreciated.
