Obituary Candle

John passed away on September 30, 2023, at the age of 71, at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with his sister Susan by his side. He fought a long and courageous battle with multiple myeloma and faced his many challenges with grace, dignity, and fierce determination.

He was a fighter to the end.

John worked until his retirement at Saskatchewan Wheat Pool 7 as an electrician, where he made lifelong friendships.

He was a caring, kind, and generous man, always giving and never expecting anything in return. He wasn’t a rich man, but he always gave generously to those in need.

John enjoyed watching sports and, in his retirement, travelled to watch his favourite teams. In recent years he looked forward to his daily conversations and sports betting with his good friend Larry Gorst. Their friendship meant a lot to John throughout his illness.

John was a steadfast member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 5, where he had many friends and enjoyed the camaraderie during his daily visits, until his illness made it too difficult to attend.

John is survived by his sisters Susan (Ted) Kennedy, Sally (Keith) Marsh, and Mary Jane White. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and their families; Erik Holmstrom, Amy Simon, Jamey Kennedy, Alexander Marsh, and Tori Marsh.

Many thanks to Dr. Stewart Kennedy for his kind and compassionate care over many years.

Cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed at www.sargentandson.com.
