(Joseph) Norman Donohue
(Joseph) Norman Donohue, 91, of Thunder Bay, Ontario, passed away peacefully on March 13th, 2025. He was born to parents Loretta Paget and Moses Donohue, on March 19th, 1933 in the Paget ancestral home on Bonaventure Island, Quebec. Norm began working for Chapple’s Department Store in Geraldton, Ontario at the age of 16. He continued his career as a manager in the Thunder Bay store from the early 1960’s until it closed in the early 1980’s. He worked for a few years for Manitoba Pool 3, and later for J. B. Evans Fashions, in semi-retirement. Norm and Marlene Moore were married on September 19,1955 in Schreiber, Ontario. They were together for 67 years, raising their 5 children: Linda Holowaty (Mike), M. Ellen Boutotte, Sandra Donohue, Jenny Sieders (Ted), and David Donohue.
Norm was a cherished “Grampa” to his 13 grandchildren, and “PopPop” to his 19 great grandchildren. He is mourned by all his extended family: his sister Violet (Don) Coulson; brothers Lawrence (Pat) Donohue, Harold (Pauline) Donohue, and Stan (Donna) Donohue.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents and wife, his sisters Lorraine Charr and Patricia Little, his sons-in-law Rob Boutotte and Ron Heffren, and brothers-in-law Norman Glad, Robin Moore, and Al Charr.
Norm’s happy place was his garden. When he wasn’t busy with seedlings, plants in cold frames, his flowers or veggies, you’d find him reading in his chair under a tree. His love of family, flowers and books is his legacy to us all.
