After 6 long weeks the family sadly announces the passing of Josie (Josephine Rose) age 46. Josie had a heart attack on December 24th, 2020 and peacefully passed away in the early morning of December 28, 2020 at the TBRHSC.
Josie was born in Atikokan, Ontario on August 10, 1974. Throughout her short life Josie lived both in Atikokan and Thunder Bay. From her first marriage she had a beautiful daughter Shyla May LeBlanc. Years later Josie fell in love again and with Rick they had twin sons Richard and Jaxon. Josie’s greatest love and passion was raising her children and enjoying her grandson Xander Eaton. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed camping and fishing. She was witty, always cracking a joke and making people laugh. She was fond of having a beer and had a good time with all.
Josie was a PSW at Hogarth Riverview Manor. She loved her residents as if they were her own family. She was a supportive and compassionate co-worker. A true joy to work with. Josie was predeceased by her father Joseph, brothers Denis, and Brian.
Left to mourn her is partner Rick Makahanuik, children Shyla, Richard Jr., Jaxon, mother Linda, sister Lorraine, step-mom, grandson Xander, and Shyla’s father Kevin.
Surviving her are many other family and friends. We are all missing Josie and her sense of humour.
A gathering will be held at a later date in Atikokan. If you so desire donations in Josie’s memory could be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
If Roses Grow in heaven
If roses grow in heaven, Lord please pick a bunch for me, place them in my mother’s arms, and tell her there from me. Tell her I love her and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for a while. Because remembering her is easy, I do it every day, but there’s an ache within my heart that will never go away.
RIP Mommy~ Love Shyla
Rick and family would like to thank all Josie’s friends and coworkers for their kind support during this difficult time. Thank you to all who make donations in memory of Josie. We were overwhelmed with the generosity from her Hogarth family and the staff at Westmount school.
Thank you to Northwest Funeral Alternative, the paramedics, Dr’s and nurses for your compassion and for taking care of Josie.
