Mr. Jozef Stefaniak, age 88 years, passed away peacefully in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, April 10, 2011.
Jozef was born on November 28, 1922 in Pawtowek, Poland and moved to Canada in 1950. He was employed with Abitibi Paper until his retirement in 1988. Jozef loved fishing, his time in his garden and taking care of his many pigeons.
Survived by his wife Helena, daughter Christina (Ken Mooney) and two grandchildren Kirk and Michelle. A brother and sister along with many nieces and nephews also survive in Poland.
Predeceased by his son Steven, 9 brothers and sisters and his parents Marcin and Maria.
The family would like to thank all the staff in ICU at TBRHSC for their care of Jozef during his stay there.
Funeral services for the late Mr. Jozef Stefaniak will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 10:30 AM in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma with Fr. Ireneusz Stadler officiating. Interment to follow in St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery.
