With heavy hearts, the family announces the sudden passing of Judith (Judy) McCullough of Nipigon on Friday, September 1, 2023, at 71. She was born in Nipigon on September the 6th, 1951 the eldest daughter to Lionel and Shirley Muloin. She left this world peacefully and painlessly in the care of Lakehead Manor in Thunder Bay. Judy will be lovingly remembered by her husband Jim McCullough of Nipigon, sons Scott McCullough (Brenda Dorosh) of Nipigon, Trevor (Monica) McCullough of Thunder Bay and daughter Jennifer (Jason) Spencer of Renfrew. Judy was a proud and loving Grammie to Braelyn and Brendan Spencer of Renfrew and Ryalie McCullough of Thunder Bay. She is survived by her mother Shirley Muloin of Thunder Bay and two sisters Donna (Alex) Humphrey of Terrace Bay, Karen (John) Lukie of Thunder Bay, and one brother Kevin (Angela) Muloin of Dorion and brother in-law Clifford McCullough of Prince George B.C. Judy had many nieces and nephews in her large family; Brad, Lisa, Dena, Ryan, Adam, Michelle, Carli, Milo and Wayne. Grand nieces and nephews include Harrison, Hudson, Samson, Grace and Lily. She is predeceased by her father Lionel and her sister Connie (Henry) Dallaire of Thunder Bay as well as her in-laws Anne and Jim McCullough.
Judy was born and raised in Nipigon and she left home at a young age to work in Thunder Bay at Dawson Court. While working in Thunder Bay she met and then married Jim McCullough. Her and her “Jimmy” chose to live and raise their family in Nipigon; staying in the same quaint neighborhood they were both raised in. Her interests were cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting and entertaining particularly for her large extended family. Sundays were always family days and she made sure to plan it that way. She was always someone who loved company for a cup of coffee and always had pie or a cake ready to be served. Some of her fondest memories were the fun times spent camping with family and friends. She could cook anything on a campfire. Judy worked part time in Nipigon at various stores, but her favorite times were her days at the Northern Store. She was an active member of the local Lioness club and served as president. Judy loved planning events with her Lioness club and preparing amazing floats and treats for children for the Fall Fishing Festival. She was also a member of the Catholic Women’s League and a parishioner of the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Family members would like to thank the staff from Lakehead Manor 3rd floor for their patience and wonderful care.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of life in the spring. Donations to Diabetes Canada would be appreciated.
