It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Karen Lynn Nummikoski, age 68 years, peacefully in Southbridge Lakehead Manor on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.

Karen was born on June 13, 1956 in Fort William to Saul and Beatrice (nee Nelson) Levanen. She was educated locally and worked various jobs in her younger years, but her true dedication was taking care of her family and their home.

Karen was the second oldest of seven siblings, them being: Donald (Donna), Janet, Robert (Rita), Dennis (Wendy), Lornie (Nancy), and Glenn (Janet). She is survived by her husband, Allan Nummikoski, her daughters Kara-Lee (Sebastian) and Angie (Dave), her son Allan Jr, and grandchildren, Donnovan (Bailey), Ariana, Miles, Gracie and Jasmyne as well as many nieces and nephews and many extended family members.

She was unfortunately predeceased by her mother Beatrice, father Saul, and brother Robert.

Karen was an incredibly intelligent woman and in her earlier days she loved to bake, sew, crochet, garden and clean while watching soap operas. She had her ups and downs over the years with various health issues but the unconditional love of her family kept her going. In her later days, Karen enjoyed playing bingo with her friends at the manor. She also loved her music, especially Elvis, Cher and Bruce Springsteen. Karen enjoyed watching her shows like, “The Price is Right”, “The 100,000 Dollar Pyramid” and “Deal or No Deal”. She was also a Toronto Maple Leaves fan, cheering and yelling at the T.V every game. Of course, she loved her food, especially her sandwiches. And at the end of the day, Karen's witty sense of humor always made you laugh.

Karen will be missed, remembered and honoured by all those she left behind. Her loss is to be mourned but her life is to be celebrated. As per Karen's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Should friends so desire, donations made in her name to The Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.
