With profound sorrow, we announce the sudden passing of Katherine-Ann Primrose, aged 77, at TBRHSC, October 07, 2023. Her enthusiasm for life had not diminished with age or infirmity and she had looked forward to a little more ease and comfort.
Despite a devastating childhood, difficult youth and single parenthood, Katherine met every day with determination and grit. Her work ethic always distinguished her from others. She took great pride in a job well done, no matter how big or small the task.
Her greatest joy, though, was motherhood. Her daughters were loved, valued and respected. She taught us the value of hard work, integrity and self-respect. We learned from her tolerance, inclusion and equality for all.
Mom took great pleasure in nature, history and art. The little t.v. she watched always pertained to the natural world. She rescued dying houseplants for friends, enjoyed bountiful vegetable and flower gardens and spoiled her pets. She was widely read and was fascinated by the Tudor period. She sketched, painted and crafted all her life. Mom was never bored and never understood people who were.
Her friendships were deep and abiding: she was a shoulder to cry on, a help mate, moral compass. Always there to help, but always eager to share a laugh.
No one will be missed more.
Katherine-Ann is survived by: daughters Terri (Rick) McGratten and Jackie Pevach, her cousin Darlene Frenette, and nieces Heather and Holli Primrose.
She is predeceased by: mother Olga Erwin (nee Symanyk), father Alfred Primrose, brother John Primrose and wife Dianne, former husband and father to her children Darryl Hafstienn, aunts Muriel and Bertha Primrose.
Cremation has taken place. As per Katherine’s wishes, there will be no service.
If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to The Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
