It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kelly Lynn McDevitt-Medendorp, loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and Yaya with her family by her side.
To describe Kelly is to describe a wonder, a precious gem. "Kelly", by definition means "warrior" and that she was. Kelly was a vibrant and vivacious presence, a bright light the moment she entered a room. Her charisma and generosity were showcased whenever anyone walked through her door. She took any opportunity to show her unending generosity through her gifts of entertaining and gourmet cooking, always taking the time to chat over a glass of wine with her family and friends.
Kelly was born on June 22nd, 1962 to Al & Elen McDevitt and from childhood her determination and perseverance was profound. Her love for fashion took her to Fanshawe College where she studied Fashion Merchandising and although her career took her down a different path, working for over 28 years with the Ministry of Public & Business Service Delivery, exemplifying a woman of great intellect and poise, her passion for fashion held true; forever our very own fashionista with a love for shoes comparable to none.
Kelly always put family first whether it was raising her children Jarrett and Brittany to hosting gatherings and enjoying life with family close by her side. In 2001, Kelly married the love of her life, Gerald, and suddenly, her life was complete; she had found her best friend. Kelly loved making memories whether it was traveling with Gerald anywhere with hot sun and beautiful beaches, always having a special place in her heart for Florida to spending summers at Hawkeye Lake with her family and her sidekick Izzy, watching her children and grandchildren enjoy the beauty of the lake as much as she did. Kelly had an immense passion for her family and embodied the best qualities of strength of spirit and unconditional love to the very end, always seeing the beauty that life had to offer, forever believing, "it's getting brighter".
Kelly will be forever missed by her loving husband Gerald, children Jarrett (Katie), Brittany (Evan), Ryan (Kaitlyn) and Noel (Matthew), brother Dan, nephew Jorgen and grandchildren Letti, Maverik, Ella, Rome, Markus, Aria, Ryder, Lilly & Lucas. Kelly is predeceased by her parents Al & Elen and brother Marty. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the truly remarkable and caring staff at Pioneer Ridge Long-Term Care, always treating Kelly with the dignity and respect that she deserved.
A Celebration of Life will be held with close family and friends on a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honour of Kelly to the Parkinson's Society or Alzheimer's Society.
