Kenneth Gustav Berg
(May 27, 1949 ~ October 27, 2009)
Son of Gustav Berg and Lillie Berg (née Selland), brother of Richard Berg.
Born and raised in St. Catharines, Ontario, Ken attended high school at St. C.C.I. & V.S. until prevented by illness from graduating. An athlete in his teenage years before his illness, he excelled at diving and cross-country running. As an avid Pentecostal, he attended Elim Tabernacle and then Central Gospel Temple when the Elim congregation moved there. Ken loved people and well understood that the greatest of the charismatic gifts was the gift of love.
In 1993 Ken and his mother Lillie moved to Thunder Bay to be with Richard, and lived in later years at a group home, Ward Manor. With adjustments to his medication Ken was able to live the social life he wanted. He enjoyed Lakehead University Thunderwolves hockey games in winter, Bordercats Northern League baseball games in summer, and shooting pool on weekends.
Predeceased by his father Gustav in 1989, he is survived by his mother Lillie, brother Richard, niece Samantha MacIntyre (Jason), their children Jacob and Aliyah, niece Camille Yergeau, her daughter Rowen, and nephew Ronald Berg. Also by maternal cousins, Roy Selland (Janice) in Melville, Saskatchewan and Betty Parr in Calgary and their families. As well by paternal cousins Harry Wikman in Vananda British Columbia and Lynne Kashl (Bill) in Calgary and their respective families.
