Mr. Kevin Peter Swanson, age 59 years, life-long resident of Thunder Bay, passed away suddenly after a brief battle with cancer, at TBRHSC with his family by his side, on Saturday, October 21, 2023.

Kevin was born to Walter and Lorraine Swanson on March 21, 1964. He graduated from Churchill High School and went on to graduate from the Heavy Duty Mechanic’s program at Confederation College. He was employed at Fort Garry Industries for 32 years before retiring in September 2020.

As a teenager, Kevin joined the Lake Superior Scottish Regiment, where he went on numerous adventures and made many friends, including his best friend Paul Maybroda. He enjoyed spending time in his trailer at Milton Lake, with all his camp buddies and could also be seen walking his dog along the Neebing River.

Kevin is survived by his sister, Janice Olesiak; niece, Jessica Olesiak; nephew, Jordan Olesiak (Sarah McDonald); great nephew, Edward Olesiak; step-son, Aidyn Decort; and his mother, Pauline Gray; step-brother, Rick Bodner; step-niece, Marnie Bodner; and step-nephew, Scott Bodner; all of Winnipeg, and step-sister Debra Bodner of Vancouver.

He was predeceased by both parents, step-father, Paul (Pete) Bodner; brother-in-law, Edward Oleaisk; step-sister, Shelly Hamilton; and step-sister-in-law, Mary-Ellen Bodner; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and extended relatives.

A Celebration of Kevin’s Life will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at SHOOTERS TAVERN, 377 Memorial Ave, Thunder Bay.
