Walenciej Krystyna new

With broken hearts, our family announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Krystyna Walenciej (nee: Lotysz) on Tuesday March 13 2018 at St. Joseph's Hospice in Thunder Bay.

Mom was born June 28, 1929 in Typin, Poland. After her husband Pawel Borowiec passed away (1974) she immigrated to Canada in 1982 to join her two brothers. Mom is survived by her sons: Edward Borowiec (Krystyna), Marian Borowiec (Dorota), her daughter Maria Sidor (Stanislaw); her grandchildren, Andrzej (Louise), Marek (Elma), Isabella, Anna (Andrew), Monika, Peter, Robert Borowiec, Joanna Hauer (Alexander), Piotr and Grzegorz Sidor; her great-grandchildren Alinka, Nicole, Mateusz Borowiec, Ella and Leon Hauer. Numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and in Poland also survive. Mom was predeceased by her parents Rozalia and Michal Lotysz; her first husband Pawel Borowiec; her second husband Chester Walenciej; sister Katarzyna; and brothers Stanislaw and Edmund.

Our Mom was very hard-working woman. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a great cook, and was well known for her pierogi and cabbage rolls. She was very proud of her immaculate vegetable and flower garden. We would like to thank Dr.’s Mangatal, Melton and Fidler, the Doctors and the palliative team and nursing staff at St. Joseph's Hospice for their care, compassion and the utmost respect for our Mother. Our thanks also go to PSW workers: Carolinka and Cathy from ParaMed Home Health Care who helped care for Mom at home for two years.

Funeral services for Krystyna Walenciej will be held on Friday March 16 when family and friends will gather in St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church, 613 McKenzie Street for the funeral mass beginning at 10:00 am, celebrated by Rev. Krystian Sokal. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday March 15, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Blake Funeral Chapel, with Vigil Prayers offered at 7:00 pm. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Krystyna's memory to the St. Joseph's Foundation- Hospice Unit or Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation.
