Lacey Speak

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beautiful Lacey Robin Speak. Lacey passed on at home surrounded by family after a lengthy illness. She was welcomed into the arms of her angels on February 14th, 2021.

Lacey was born March 23rd, 1988, the daughter of Glenda and Tim Speak. It was a difficult pregnancy that left Glenda fighting for her own life and Lacey's at the PAGH's Neonatal ICU. This is where she formed an incredible bond with her father. At just 5 lbs 15 1/2 oz she was cared for and tube fed by Tim. Tim fondly remembers how she fit in the palms of his hands. He would sneak into the NICU to be close to his first born. It is safe to say the nurses got to know Tim well.

Lacey grew to be a compassionate, loving, empathetic young girl. Her life was made even better when her little sister, Farran was born. She loved her so much! Lacey was Farran's protector and confidant. They shared a love that only sisters could know.

In their teens, both Lacey and Farran went to Toronto to live with their Auntie B and Uncle Cordell to attend school. Some of her most special, happy memories are from her time there. She was very close to Beverly and Cordell and was grateful for the time she spent with them.

Lacey blossomed into a beautiful young woman and found her soulmate Daniel Cunningham. Daniel would lovingly refer to her as his "lilLaceygirl". They had two beautiful boys, Daniel Jr. and Mathew. Her boys were her world. She would spend endless hours doing arts and crafts with them. You did not receive a store bought card for a birthday or special occasion but one lovingly crafted by her and the boys. Their cards were so beautiful.

Lacey and Dan both had a love for animals. Her little dogs Baby and Pepper were always by her side. They would also foster dogs for their mother-in-law, Kim, an avid animal advocate. This was a passion they all shared as a family. Lacey was grateful to have Kim and her husband, Al, in their lives.

Lacey also loved camping and swimming. The thought of a staycation at the Victoria Inn filled her with glee. She and Dan would pack up the tent and cooler and kiddos and head out to the bush. She didn't need a big fancy trailor or camper, the simple things.....like good food and time with her love and children made her feel like the richest, most luckiest woman in the world. We miss her dearly.

Lacey is survived by her husband and children, Daniel Sr., Daniel Jr., and Mathew Cunningham, her parents, Tim (Pauline) and Glenda Speak, her sister, Farran Speak, her Aunt B and Uncle Cordelly as she would call him, her grandparents, Marilyn Campigotto (Art), her many aunts, uncles and cousins and predeceased grandparents, James Speak Sr., Dusty and Betty Miller.
