With heavy hearts, the family of Larry Cunningham announces his passing after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, October 20th 2024, at the age of 74. Larry was born in Alliston, Ontario, on October 4th 1950, to Harold and Joyce Cunningham. Known affectionately as “Uncle Larry” to his coworkers at Thunder Bay Shipyards, he was a skilled Welder/Millwright who took great pride in his work.
Larry was a man; of not only compassion who encouraged kindness, self-belief, understanding and non-judgment. He was also a man that enjoyed having fun, laughing and staying young at heart. He was sure to join in on water fights, loved telling/hearing jokes and even made snow angels with his wife into his seventies. His wealth of knowledge, creativity, happiness and positivity will be remembered fondly. The stories that he shared, his gentle eyes, warm smile, loving hugs, and soft heart will stay with us always.
Larry will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Beverly; children Frank, Jamie, and Denny Cunningham, as well as Katie (Vince) Watt; grandchildren Shea-Lynn, Dylan, and Selena Cunningham, Kenny and Richard Skirten, as well as Trayson and Taneesha (Corey) Watt; sisters Glenna (Orville) Dolph and Laurene (Don) Grimm; brothers Allen (Pam) and Kenny Cunningham; three great-grandchildren as well as one on the way that Larry was excited to hear about; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was predeceased by his parents Joyce and Harold Cunningham and brothers Bruce and Wayne Cunningham.
A celebration to honour Larry’s life will be held in the summer of 2025.
Sweetheart, “My Larry,” you’ll be with me forever, till the rivers run still and the four winds we know blow away. Now resting safe with Jesus. - With love, Bev
