Mrs. Laura Moonias, age 52 years, originally from Lansdowne House, Ontario and later a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre at 9:25 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2015.
Laura enjoyed crafts such as embroidery and beading. She was outgoing and always put a smile on people’s faces. She liked to walk around and socialize, meeting new people and helping others who were struggling. She loved her grandchildren unconditionally.
Laura will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Joey Moonias; daughters Melissa, Debbie, Krystal, Wanita; sons Josh and Trenton; brothers George (late Harriet), Donald (Elizabeth), Tony (Dorothy) Sakanee; grandchildren Carina, Jaron, Jayden, Deidrick, Angelina, Labron, Lyndon, Melina, Summer, Ember, Evie, and unborn baby girl.
Laura was predeceased by her parents Louis and Isabel Sakanee; 3 brothers Albert (Sally), Morris and Daniel (Daisy) Sakanee; sister Charlotte Moonias.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2015 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, presided by Rev. Victor and Maureen Pelletier.
Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place in the Neskantaga First Nation Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations in Laura’s memory to the Kwae Kii Win Program, Shelter House, would be appreciated.
