Laurie Janice Gibbs (nee Agnew), age 71 years, passed away unexpectedly in Geraldton District Hospital on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
Laurie was born on December 5, 1952 and spent her childhood in Gooderham and Wilberforce, Ontario. She met Danny Gibbs and they were married on April 3, 1970, raising two children and creating a wonderful life together. Laurie worked for many years at Extra Foods Grocery Store in Geraldton, and enjoyed the interactions with the many customers she encountered everyday. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.
Laurie is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Danny; children Terri Lynn (Steve) and Danny Jr.; grandchildren Desiree and Mathew Schultz-Gibbs; brother Barry (Sharon) Agnew and special cousins Mary (John) Barker, Cathy Agnew, Phillip Agnew, Wynne Agnew and other cousins; as well as by her numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Victoria (nee Rains) and Ross Dixon Agnew, and dear cousin Fred Agnew.
Funeral Services for the late Laurie Gibbs will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 1:00pm in Faith City Church (301 3rd Avenue SW, Geraldton). Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Cremation will follow and interment will take place at a later date.
