It is with profound sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Lawrence "Lorne" Wilson.
Lorne was born on December 19, 1939 to Parents Helen and Arden Wilson at McKellar General Hospital. He spent his whole life in Thunder Bay/Fort William. On April 21, 1962 he married his wife Marion (nee Shield). A year later, their first child, Russell, was born April 22, 1963 with Ken and Catherine to follow.
Lorne was well liked by many; “Friends and Family” were his treasures. If he was around loved ones he was happiest. He treasured his grandchildren, and would see them as often as he could. He could be found as a spectator at their sporting events, or chatting with them about whatever was on their minds. He also had a soft spot for animals, and his number one dog, Nikki. He gained many friendships over the years from his activities like racing at the Lakehead Exhibition grounds, square dancing over the last 25 years, curling, and helping around Pinegrove United Church. Lorne also loved camping, from the early days of venturing with the truck camper, to later owning/building a camp, and motor homing down to the southern United States.
Lorne worked many jobs in his life to provide for his family; he was a Mechanic by trade. He was very good at his trade and helped many “Friends and Family” with their vehicles. This is what most likely led him down the path of being owner/operator of Wilson Auto Sales on Simpson Street until he retired.
Lorne was predeceased by his parents Helen and Arden Wilson, his wife’s parents Jack and Margaret Shields, his sister Sheila and her husband Hughie Donovan, and Sister-In-Law Vera Matilepe. Lorne is survived by his wife of 53 years Marion. His children Russell (Alexis), Ken (Lorri), Catherine, Jose (Lissette). Grandchildren Nikkilas (girlfriend Kira), Cailean, Mollie, Elias, Michelle. Brother Duffy (Shirley). In-Laws Jim Shields (Diane), Evelyn Harris (Chuck), Jeanie McCoy, Malcolm Shields (Val). And numerous Nieces and Nephews, and their children.
Funeral services will be held at Pinegrove United Church on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pinegrove United Church or charity of your choice.
