It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, friend and partner Leona Donna Elizabeth Michano, Red Sun Women. She passed peacefully thru the night on April 21, 2011 in her home.
Leona was born Dec. 17, 1953 to parents Stanley Michano and Cecilia (Goodchild) and spent most of her life in the community of the Ojibways of Pic River First Nation. Leona was proud of her community and native heritage.
She was a great woman and was a delight to be around. Her smile was contagious and her warmth and kindness was felt throughout.
She had a strong spirit and love for her culture, she was teacher who touched so many lives and her kind words gave much strength to those who needed it. She was in inspiration to all who knew her. Her kind smiles and loving ways will never be forgotten.
She was predeceased by her parents and brothers Faren, Isadore, Patrick and sister Delores. She is survived by her partner Darcy, her sweethearts Mackenzie and Madison, her brothers Arnold(Alvina), Brian, sister in law Shirley, and three generations of numerous nieces and nephews, and Relic.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 when family and friends will gather in St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church, Pic River, for the Funeral Mass beginning at 1 p.m. celebrated by Rev. Milton McWatch.
The interment will follow in Pic River Cemetery.
Visitation for friends will be held in the church beginning Monday evening.
As expressions of sympathy memorials to a charity that benefits children would be greatly appreciated.
