Leslie Miller, age 84, beloved husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and cherished friend of many, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

Les was born on November 30, 1939, in Brampton, Ontario, to his parents Edeleen and Roy Miller. Les, the second eldest child of four, lost both his brother and father during his early years.

To help put food on the table, Les worked many part-time jobs delivering papers, setting pins at the bowling alley and working at Hewetson Shoe Factory. In 1958, Les began working as a bookkeeper for Chicago Vocational Training Corp., which started his path into the accounting world. Over the next nine years, he worked in various accounting positions at Canadian Car, Hawker Siddeley Canada LTD, Flexonics and Stellar Globe Corp. In 1969, Les moved away from Brampton to New Liskeard, Ontario, to join Northern Telephone LTD as the assistant treasurer. Finally, in 1975, Les and his family relocated to Thunder Bay. Here, he settled in as the Chief Financial Business Officer at Lakehead University. After a distinguished 25-year career, Les set down the pencil and turned off the adding machine to enjoy retirement.

In his free time, Les enjoyed being with family and friends, hitting the links, travelling and wintering in Florida.

Les will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his lifelong companion of 60 years, Iris Miller (Irvine), his sister Lois Benjamin, son Stephen Miller, grandchildren Riley, Kyle, and Hailey Miller, Eamon and Devlin Curran, and his many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Roy Philip (Miller), and Edeleen Anna Agar (Karn), brothers Alvin and Glenn, daughter Debbie, and daughter-in-law Susan Miller (McMuldroch).

A special thank you to the care team of TBRHSC - 2B and the care team on floor 4, North wing of St. Joseph's Hospital, who cared for Les in his final weeks.

If so desired, donations can be made in memory of Les to the Salvation Army Thunder Bay Community Church, the Dementia Café - Thunder Bay, or a charity of choice.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am on Friday, July 26, 2024 followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, presided by Lieutenant Nancy Harrison of The Salvation Army. Interment at Riverside Cemetery will follow reception.
