Mrs. Lida Muir, age 91 years passed away peacefully with family by her side at Pioneer Ridge on Sunday, December 24th, 2023.

Lida Lea DiBlasio was born in Befaro, Italy on July 14th 1932.  Lida emigrated to Port Arthur via Ellis Island with her mother Guilia when she was 5 years old. Her father Anthony was waiting for their arrival. In the following years the extended family would join them. Lida worked as a bookkeeper at Bourke’s Drug Mart where she would meet the love of her life, James Muir. They were married on June 20th, 1953. Jim and Lida would be blessed with two sons, Warren and Sheldon. While raising her boys Lida volunteered with the MS society as well as Dawson Court, Home for the aged. Lida volunteered at Dawson Court for over 20 years. She loved every moment. Including the monthly lunches she and the other volunteers from Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church would enjoy together. Lida was an active member of Thunder Bay’s Catholic Women’s League.

Among her favourite things was her time spent with her “Gabby Group” These girls would be lifelong friends. Emma Toivonen, Jeanette Gresko and Mary Spittle you filled her days with laughter and love. The epitome of true friendship.

The Muir Family Camp on Bolduc Bay, Dog Lake was the setting for a lifetime of wonderful memories with Jim, their children, grandchildren and extended family and friends. In her final years Lida was blessed with her 4th grandchild, Layla. They even got to live together. Gramma was woken up daily by this tiny human that brought her such joy at 89!

Lida was kind as the day is long, honest and had a sense of humour that could rival most. She took immense pride in her grown grandchildren, Courtney, Brandon and Brooklyn and all they have accomplished.

She is survived by her son Sheldon and daughter in law Jessica, son Warren, grandchildren Courtney, Brandon, Brooklyn and Layla, her brother Nino and nephew Jonathan, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Guilia, brother Aldo and husband James Muir.

She will be sadly missed and loved by all that knew her.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 3rd 2024 when family and friends will gather at Our Lady of Loretto R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 11 am.  Those wishing to attend virtually may do so at the Sargent and Son Facebook page. A private interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
