It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Linda Miller. Linda passed away peacefully in her home on November 13, 2024, at the age of 72. Linda was born in Hafford SK to Eva and Raymond Dubious and raised in Macklin SK.

As a youth, Linda was an enthusiastic student. She graduated top of her class in high school. She continued her studies at the Universities of Acadia and Lakehead, completing both a Bachelor of Arts and Education. Upon her graduation from Lakehead, she was awarded the Dean’s Medal for the Faculty of Arts. Linda maintained a fiery passion for lifelong learning. She had a worldly intellect and was wise well beyond her years, even at 72.

It was in Nova Scotia, at the age of 19, that she fell in love with her best friend and future husband, Monty, while working for the Department of Highways. They had many adventures, travelling to every province in Canada, living in Mexico for a time and teaching in the remote northern community of Weagamow Lake. They eventually settled in Neebing, Ontario just outside of Thunder Bay.

Here they raised their family and built lifelong friendships. Linda loved her home and for over 40 years she found peace and happiness in exploring all the beauty their country property had to offer. She loved to garden and interact with nature. The bird feeders were always full and, on at least one occasion, a frog was overwintered in the house. Linda and Monty shared a passion for the performing arts and particularly for music. The auditorium, Magnus Theater, The Sleeping Giant Folk Society and local music festivals provided tremendous enjoyment for so many years.

Linda and Monty raised their three sons Christopher, Luke and Michael in a house filled with love. Linda was an incredible mother, having the ability to turn the simplest moment into a cherished memory. Linda made sure to pass on her passion for learning to her children, supporting them every step of their educational journey. She passed on her wealth of knowledge which wove connections between history, biology, psychology, music and politics (leftwing). The intent of her teachings were often to inspire further curiosity about the world around us. She gave her children unrelenting support and love. They all always knew how fortunate they were.

Linda had the ability to make others find excitement and beauty in the world. Once you were lucky enough to make it into Linda’s life you had her steadfast support. She loved to help those she cared about. Linda always cheered for the underdog. She was passionate about the causes she believed in and donated to a variety of charities, often unbeknown to Monty.

In recent years, Linda travelled to Africa, Europe, and South America with her family. She had particularly memorable adventures with her sister-in-law Anne, who was a cherished travel companion. Linda's love was powerfully displayed with her grandchildren Flynn and Addie. She made their worlds bigger, spreading her infectious joy of life.

In the days before her passing Linda spent time with her lifelong friends. She was planning both her upcoming trip to visit her sons and their families, as well as the meals she would drop off to those she cared about before she left.

Linda is survived by her husband and partner of 52 years Monty, sons Chris (Nicole), Luke (Maria) and Mike (Evan), grandchildren Adeline, Flynn and brothers Laurie and Roland.

She will be remembered for a worldly intellect, for being nonjudgemental, unwaveringly selfless, tremendously kind and caring. In her vision for the world, we would prioritize decency, compassion and ecological balance.

In lieu of flowers or donations, we know Linda would prefer a simple act of kindness done in her honour. As per Linda’s wishes a small family celebration of life will take place at a later date.
