With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Linda Jane Roy, who was known to all as Jane, on March 29, following a brief illness. She was a beloved wife, mother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Jane was born on June 9, 1942, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, but spent her life as a proud resident of Thunder Bay. On June 9, 1967, she married the love of her life, Ron Roy, and together they built a beautiful life. They lived for a time in Kapuskasing before returning to Thunder Bay in the early 1970s.
Jane and Ron were blessed with two sons, Kevin and Michael, who were the light of her life. She was a devoted mother, always offering love, guidance, and support.
Jane dedicated many years to her career, working in the office at Great Lakes Paper Mill, where she formed lifelong friendships. She later completed her working years at the Office of the Registrar General before enjoying a well-earned retirement.
Jane’s kindness, warmth, and unwavering love touched the lives of many. She will be remembered for her generosity, her gentle spirit, and the way she made those around her feel cherished. Though she is no longer with us, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Ron Roy, and son Michael Roy, her sister, Kristin Doran, and nieces Hannah Larocque, Krista Doran, and Dana Doran. She was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Bunty Knutson, and son, Kevin Roy.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
Rest in peace, dear Jane. You will always be loved and never forgotten.
