He's taken his final flight!

Mr. Lionel Bruce Binnie, age 80 years, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in the TBRHSC.

Bruce was born October 29, 1935 in Aldershot, England. Bruce was a pilot, navigator and bomb-aimer, travelling the world with the Royal Air Force.

He then became an air traffic controller. Upon arrival in Canada, he became a meteorological technician with Environment Canada. He was affectionately known as "The Weather Man" in Thunder Bay for 25 years.

Bruce is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 56 years, Thelma, and his daughters Jacqueline (David), Gillian and Loredana (Ken). He is also survived, and fondly remembered by his grandchildren Andrew (Kristina), Mark (Kaitlyn), Matthew (Krista), Sarah (Aaron) and Johanna (Brandon) and his great granddaughter Alyssa.

Bruce's family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Fulford, Dr. Malik and to the entire team of healthcare professionals on 2C at the TBRHSC.

Funeral services for Mr. Lionel Bruce Binnie will be held at a later date. Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Bruce to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street.
