Lori Jane Gurney (nee McEachern) passed away suddenly at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, February 12, 2017.

Lori was born in Fort William on July 10, 1959. She was the daughter of Jack and Valerie McEachern. She graduated from Sir Winston Churchill High School and worked as a Laundry Aide with the City of Thunder Bay at Grandview Lodge and Pioneer Ridge for 37 years. She also worked at the DaVinci Centre bar for many years.

She is survived by David, her husband of 25 years; sister Linda Rowe(Gord), brother Thomas McEachern, Mother-in-law Norma Gurney (Kendall); brother and sister in laws- Glenda Law(Bob), Jack Gurney(Terri), Karen Covello(Bill); nieces and nephews- Stacey Rowe (Kirk), Jeff Rowe (Tara), Jessica Venasky (Colin), Adrienne Hladky (Dave), Carli Gurney(Ardy), Danielle Covello(Nick), Alexa Harris(Kegan), Nicole Covello( Anthony), Taylore McEachern, Connor Covello (Stephanie), Stephanie Covello (Alex); great nieces and nephews- Brittany Rowe, Paige Venasky, Sophie Venasky, Ava Rowe and Elyas Hladky. Lori was a much loved Aunt by ALL of her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The kids always wondered how Aunty Lori knew exactly what they wanted for all life’s special occasions. The reason was that Aunty Lori loved them all so much and was always interested in who they were and what they liked. She is also survived by many lifelong friends. A few special ones are Lenore & Rick Buzzi, Reggie Champlain, Emma Colosimo (Bill), Doris & Jack Currie. She was predeceased by her parents Jack and Valerie McEachern and Father-in-law Jack Gurney.

Lori has now joined her Mom, Dad and beloved pet Riley. She will be sadly missed by her soul mate David. They were each others’ rock.

There will be a celebration of Lori’s life on Saturday, February 18th from 11am-1pm(with a service commencing at 11:30) at the Columbus Centre-301 South May Street. There is plenty of parking in the area, if you look around. We would like to thank the many staff at the TBRHSC, Home Hemodialysis and St Joseph’s Care Group, for their care and compassion over the years. In Lieu of flowers, charitable donations would be welcomed at: Thunder Bay Kidney Foundation, War Amps, Animal Shelters or any other charity of your choice. Lori would have also wanted you to consider being an organ donor. She waited many years for a kidney, she sadly never received.   www.beadonor.ca
