Mrs. Lucy Balyk, age 76, resident of Pinewood Court, Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14th, 2024 at 8:00am. Born on September 15, 1947, in Louisburg, Germany, Lucy came to Thunder Bay as a young child with her family. She was raised and educated in Fort William’s East End. Lucy met her husband Dan at just 14 years of age and was smitten right away. Lucy married Dan February 6th, 1965, and together they raised a beautiful family. Lucy was employed with the West Fort William Credit Union for 23 years, retiring in 2003 as a Special Accounts Manager. Lucy enjoyed her retirement by living life to her fullest with her family and friends. Lucy loved spending her winters in their home in Arizona, where she could enjoy the golf courses and their many friends. She loved spending her time on the golf courses here in Thunder Bay and always making little trips stateside to Minnesota for golf, football games and shopping excursions. Lucy had a special love for All animals, which made her smile, especially her Patrick Puppy.

Lucy is survived by her husband Dan of 59 years, 3 children: Dan Jr, Rob (Michelle), Lori (Jason Glowatch), her grandson TJ, step-grandsons Colin and Mitchell, her sister Christine Daboka (Bruce) and her nephews: Jamie, Carl, and Niel.

Lucy was predeceased by her father John, mother Mary and special great grandson Kyler.

We would like to especially thank the Staff at Pinewood Court for the amazing care that they have given to Lucy and her family since September 2020. We could not ask for better care as they made Mom smile every day and took great care of her and Dan, as he was up there daily to help and be with his wife Lucy. Each and everyone one of the staff has a special place in our hearts. Thank you to Lucy’s special friends Jocelyn Gagnon, and Maria Lyght for visiting and always making Mom smile. Thank you to her lifelong best friend, Helen Tutt, for her faithful friendship, especially while she was living at Southbridge Pinewood. All her cards and letters brought mom joy and peace.

Funeral Services will be held at St Agnes’ Church on Brown Street on Friday June 21st at 12:10pm for anyone who would like to attend with a light lunch afterwards in the Church Hall. For those unable to attend, the service will be live streamed at https://www.stagnesrc.ca

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Parkinson Canada.
