Lynda Stokaluk, aged 81 years, passed away peacefully at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon on Dec 6, 2024.
Lynda was born on May 30, 1943 in Port Arthur, Ontario. She lived most of her life in Thunder Bay, with some time spent as a young bride in Grand Forks, ND while Don played NCAA hockey. In 2022 Lynda moved to Saskatoon to be close to Donna and her family.
Lynda worked for many years with Safeway, and later with the Public and Catholic school boards. Her last post was at St. Paul’s School where she really enjoyed talking to the little kids. Her favourite pastimes were shopping, trips to the casino, and spending time with family.
Lynda will be sadly missed by her children: Stephen Stokaluk, Donna McLean (Bart); grandchildren: Dawn Stokaluk, Brandon McLean (Kate Forrester), Nicole Hoffman (Jordan); great-granddaughters: Harper and Briar Hoffman; sister Anita Drabek; In-laws: Phyllis Stokaluk, Steve Stokaluk, Frances Stokaluk, as well as numerous extended relatives.
She was predeceased by husband Don in 2011; siblings: Joan, Lorraine, Lois, and Tommy; parents: Thomas and Mary McLean and father-in-law Steve Stokaluk, as well as numerous extended relatives.
The family would like to thank the staff of Preston Park I who assisted Lynda daily and everyone there she affectionately called “kiddo”. Thank you also to the caring paramedics and staff of RUH involved in her care and the nurses of the Seniors First Program.
Cremation has taken place. A private family celebration will be held at a later date in Thunder Bay with interment at Riverside Cemetery.
Lynda loved animals, especially dogs. If desired, donations may be made in Lynda’s memory to the Thunder Bay & District Humane Society or any dog rescue organization.
