It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Lynne Schaarschmidt on June 3, 2024.

Lynne was born on February 10, 1943 in Port Arthur to parents Dunc and Liala Stirrett. She met and married Siegfried Schaarschmidt in May 1962. Together they raised their 3 children.

Lynne's kind, caring and nurturing personality led her to a fulfilling career, 40 plus years as a registered nurse in the maternity ward at the Port Arthur General Hospital.

Lynne always had a warm smile that welcomed many family, friends and neighbors to her home as well as the family camp at Hawkeye Lake. She was always concerned about the happiness and well-being of others.

Lynne's love of travel took her to many places. She had fond memories of the many years spent in Hawaii. She was fortunate to spend some of the winter months in many different places including in her 5th wheel in Needles, California, where she made many friends and acquaintances. She enjoyed golfing, going to the casino and the occasional bingo. She also enjoyed getting together with friends of her card clubs.

Lynne is lovingly remembered and will be missed by her husband of 62 years Siegfried, her daughter Susan (Mike Conway), daughter Kim (Manuel Pires), son Kurt, daughter-in-law Judy and grandchildren Jesse, Justin, Brook, Paris, brother Ken (Liliane) Stirrett as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles and dear friends. Lynne was predeceased by her parents Dunc and Liala Stirrett and her twin sister Lorraine Baird-Barrow.

As per Lynne's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of Lynne's life will be held at a later date beginning with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens followed by a gathering of family and friends.

The family would like to express thanks to the nurses of St. Joseph's Hospital.  A special thank you to Judy and Debbie for being there for Mom.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Lynne's memory can be made to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.\
