Margaret Hurlbert
Mrs. Margaret Rose Hurlbert (nee Chaschuk), age 64 years of Neebing, passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on Sunday, June 27, 2021 in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, after a long courageous fight with cancer.

Margaret was born in Fort William on April 15, 1957 to Metro and Lucy Chaschuk. She met James Hurlbert, the love of her life, and within six months they were married on July 1, 1976.

Margaret loved many things in this life. She loved her husband and her family deeply, dedicating her life to raising their children and making their house a home. She loved to cook and bake. Weekly Maggie would make mouthwatering meals for her family including her famous fresh bread and never missed a dessert. Margaret was a very talented artist who created beautiful scenic paintings. She was blessed with an artistic eye and a compassionate heart that would allow her to see the beauty in every situation and every person. Maggie loved to nurture every one of God's creations and it showed in her gardens. Margaret's talents and skills were vast due to her life growing up on her parents farm. Fishing and attending fish derbies were Margaret's favourite hobbies, and as most things she did in life, she excelled at it (ALWAYS catching the biggest fish). Maggie loved to build things alongside her husband Jim, including their family home that they lived in for 43 years and the handmade teardrop trailer that they travelled happily together in throughout her final years. Above all Margaret loved the Lord with all her heart and served in many ministries including Livingwell Healing Rooms, Grace Place, and Thunder Bay Christian Fellowship.

Margaret is survived and will be remembered always by her best friend and loving husband of 45 years, Jim; children Jeremy (Tracy), Clayton (Kim), Amy (Josh); grandchildren Koen, Cole, and Kael; siblings Cathy Chaschuk, Leo (Wendy) Chaschuk, Karen (Bill) Mitchell, Ed (Sylvia) Chaschuk, Donald (Erin) Chaschuk, Charlene (Gene) Chaschuk, and Colin ( Rosanne) Chaschuk; Aunt Helen Duda and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

She was predeceased by her parents, Metro and Lucy Chaschuk; and sister Anna Collett.

Visitation for family and friends of Margaret will be held on Sunday, July 4, 2021 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James. Due to the present COVID gathering restrictions, a private family service will be held on Monday in the Chapel. Interment will follow in Cloud Bay Cemetery. A video recording of the service will be available on the Everest of Thunder Bay website beginning on Tuesday.

Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Margaret to the Northern Cancer Fund (payable to TBRHSF) would be greatly appreciated.
