With very heavy hearts we announce the passing of our much loved Maria (Mary) Munro (nee Gricnik), who left us April 14th, 2025 in her 68th year, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her unwavering strength throughout her illness touched those she encountered on this journey.
Mary was born to Franc and Stanislava Gricnik in Novo Mesto, Slovenia on April 23, 1956. She immigrated to Canada with her parents as a young girl.
Mary was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was devoted to her cherished husband, James, and a proud, loving mom to her sons, Jonathan (Stephanie) and Mark (Marie-France). Mary adored her grandson, Kasper, and eagerly anticipated the arrival of her second grandson in July.
Family was the center of Mary’s world, and she cherished time spent with them. She will be deeply missed by her mother, Stanislava, her sisters: Julie (Ken), Nancey (Robert), Connie (Dave), and Laurie, as well as her brother Tim (Shana). Mary is also fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
Her gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering support for family and friends will remain her legacy. Her family will seek comfort in the countless memories she left us with during her lifetime.
A celebration of life will be held at the Da Vinci Centre on Tuesday, April 22nd at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
