Mrs. Maria Teresa Ruggiero, age 80 years, passed away peacefully in her home, on Friday, May 15, 2015 with her family by her side.
Maria was born on January 25, 1935 in Castelmauro, Italy to Nicola and Teresa Di Paolo. She married Mose Ruggiero and they immigrated with their family to Canada in 1957. Family was Maria's main focus. She loved all of the family gatherings shared together, especially Sunday lunches. She enjoyed taking care of her home, gardening and flowers. She also had a passion for sewing and knitting, completing many touques, gloves, and other projects for family and friends. Maria was a longtime member of St. Agnes Church and the CWL. She will be truly missed by all of those who knew her.
Maria is survived by her husband of 60 years, Mose; children Nick, Flavia and Tony (Kelly); grandchildren Taylor and Carley as well as two brothers, Pasquale (Sisina) and Sylvino (Ulrica) Di Paolo. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.
She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral Services for the late Mrs. Maria Ruggiero will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 leaving the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James at 11:45AM to St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, for the Funeral Mass at 12:10PM, celebrated by Father James Panikulam. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday evening after 5:00pm in the Westfort Chapel, with Vigil Prayers offered at 6:30PM.
