It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great and great great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Marie Blanche Edmunds, at the age of 82 in her home on May 8, 2018.

Marie was born on April 18th, 1936 in Cobalt, Ontario to Anna and Edmond Arbour. She was raised in Matachewan, Ontario where she met and later married the love of her life Llew on May 29, 1954.

In 1956 they moved to Terrace Bay, Ontario where they finished building and raising their family. They were very active in the Terrace Bay community and Marie excelled at bowling, golfing, and curling. Twelve years later, they moved to Brantford, Ontario where they stayed for 2 years and daughter Karen was married. From there they moved to Thunder Bay where they finished raising their family. Then they started wintering in Tucson Arizona.

Marie’s life had its share of hardships. In 1981 she was diagnosed with MS. Llew was by her side the whole time until literally her last breath. His love and devotion is the stuff legends are made of and their marriage was the greatest love story of our time. All 63 years. They would have celebrated 64 years on May 29th. Through it all Marie loved it when her family was around, in pain or not she always had the biggest smile and enthusiastic greeting. Her sense of humour created a lot of laughs Sin our family.

Marie is survived by her loving husband Llew; her children, Karen, Danny (Cindy), David, MaryLou (Steve), and Rick (Colleen); her grandchildren, Sandy, David, Kristi, Michael, Traci, Dale, Lindsay, Stephanie, Dustin, Christina, James and Heather; she had the pleasure of having 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She is also very lucky to be survived by all her siblings; her brothers, Joe, Paul, Johnny, Leo, Raymond, and Tommy; and her sisters, Rita, Eva and Julie. She has many nieces and nephews surviving who will miss her very much. She was predeceased by her parents Anna and Edmond Arbour, her infant daughter Judy and her grandson Paul.

Marie was our wife and mother, our mentor, our inspiration, she was our hero and we will miss her terribly. Until we meet again. We love you mom.

Funeral Services for Marie will take place on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, presided by Fr. Victor De Gagne. Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the service time.

Donations in memory of Marie may be made to the MS Society – Lake Superior District Chapter, or a charity of choice.
