Our beloved husband and father, Marko Butorac passed away Saturday, November 28, 2015 with family by his side.Z
Marko was born in Donje Pazariste, Croatia on August 21, 1929 to Karlo and Ana Butorac. Marko immigrated to Canada in 1956, settling in Port Arthur. In 1963, Marko married Marja Tomljenovic and together raised their two daughters, Anka (Anne) and Kathy. Marko had a lengthy career in the paper industry, working for Great Lakes Paper Products as a woodcutter, until his retirement.
Marko had great “pride” in his huge garden; he enjoyed his daily walks around the neighbourhood, and his daily coffee meetings with his friends at Robins Donuts in the mornings, and coffee meetings in the afternoon at Intercity Mall, no matter the weather! Dancing was one of Marko’s greatest passions at any social event. He was always willing to help his friends and community.
Marko will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Marija, daughters Kathy and Anne (Brock) Balog, his grandsons Jett and Kale, and sister Marija Jurcic (Nikola), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives in Croatia and Canada. Marko was predeceased by his parents, and brother Toma.
In Keeping with Marko’s wishes, he will be buried with his parents in Donje Pazariste, Croatia.
Visitation for the late Marko Butorac will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 N. Cumberland St. A Funeral Service will be held in Croatia at a later date.
