It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marlene Hartnagel (Belluz) at the age of 80, on November 14th, 2024, with her family by her side.

Born in Fort William on June 6th, 1944, Marlene lived a life full of love, faith, dedication, and selflessness.

Marlene was predeceased by her beloved husband of 40 years, David Hartnagel, and her parents, Art and Mary Belluz. She leaves behind her daughters Kara (Rick) and Dione (Dave), her brothers Ray (Gail) and Kenny, and numerous friends and family who adored her. Marlene was a proud and loving Nana to her grandchildren: Eric (Marisa), Kayla (Jason), Troy (Steph), Rachel (Liam), and Nathan (Nicole). She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Scarlett, Benny, and Maverick, all of whom brought her immeasurable joy.

For Marlene, family was everything. She was the supportive Nana who attended swimming lessons, soccer games, hockey games, and graduations, always cheering from the sidelines and showing up with love and encouragement. Her presence in the lives of her children and grandchildren was a source of constant strength and affection.

Marlene worked as a secretary for Lakehead Public Schools, where she became a well-respected and cherished member of the school community. But it was in the kitchen where Marlene truly shined. An amazing cook, she ensured that no one ever left her home hungry - whether it was a full meal or leftovers to take home. She was especially famous for her Easter bread, crepes, and pierogies, which became a beloved part of family traditions.

Marlene was fortunate to have had the steadfast friendship of her best friends, Ersilia (Bill) and Marie (Brian), for over 40 years. The bond they shared was one of mutual love and support, and they were a constant source of comfort throughout Marlene's life and in her passing. The family would also like to express their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff of the emerg and 2B at the hospital, whose compassionate care brought comfort to Marlene in her final days. Special thanks are also extended to Dr. Agostino and Dr. Kevin Bezanson for their dedication and kindness in her care.

Marlene's kindness, generosity, and infectious spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, her legacy of love and care will continue to resonate in the hearts of her family and friends for years to come.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Canadian Lung Association or Northern Cancer Fund (payable to TBRHSF) in Marlene's memory.

Marlene leaves behind a profound legacy of warmth, love, and delicious meals. She will forever be remembered for her unwavering devotion to those she loved. May she rest in peace.

Funeral Services for the late Marlene Hartnagel will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 11:00am in the WESTFORT CHAPEL (420 West Gore Street at James). Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
