During his time at the mill, he held a few union positions including Union President. Marty was an avid Sports fan. He especially loved his Chicago Bears, but hockey was his ultimate joy. He was hockey convenor for the Current River Mighty Mite program where he developed a highly competitive program. Marty became building chairman where he was instrumental in raising the money needed to build a new facility in 1989. Marty and Theresa bought the Silver Dollar Fishing & Hunting Resort north of Ignace in 1999, where they met many wonderful people and created lifelong friendships. He was lovingly known as the P.R.
