Mr. Mauri Seppala, age 64 years, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Hogarth Lake just about to go fishing.
Mauri was born in Kemio, Finland on December 3, 1945 to Tauno and Inkeri (Mansikkamaa) Seppala. They immigrated to Canada when he was 10 years old. He attended Ogden Street School and Selkirk High School. He completed his education in Sault Ste. Marie, obtaining his Class A Mechanics license. He worked at various places including Great Lakes, Blackwood Hodge, White Trucks, MTO and most recently Buchanan Forest Products. He had also repaired many vehicles in his garage at home.
Mauri loved the outdoors, fishing and spending time at his “shack” in Mack. He enjoyed having his family, friends and especially his grandchildren over for visits.
Mauri will be sadly missed by his daughters Helena (Wade) Spencer and Pirjo (Randy) Niittynen; grandchildren Corey and Emily Spencer, Seija and Nicholas Niittynen and Haley Greenwood; good friends Arlene Coates, Robert Uvanile and John Andrychuk; former spouse Anja Seppala, and furry companion Ruff.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Funeral services for the late Mr. Mauri Seppala will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 27, 2010 in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time. If friends so desire, donations may be made to Ducks Unlimited.
