It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Madge, who died unexpectedly at home on Monday, July 29, 2024. Michael was born on October 5, 1958 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Mike had a great passion for the outdoors. He spent his summers at his camp on Barnum Lake, where most daylight hours he could be found on the water sailing or in the sauna. Mike also had a passion for winter sports, including cross country skiing at Kamview Nordic Centre, playing hockey at the outdoor rinks, and ice boating on ice thickness which was often questionable at best. When he wasn’t outside, he could be found working out at Movati, spending as much time socializing as he did on the machines.
For over 30 years, Mike worked as a dedicated math teacher and coach for the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board, with the majority of his career spent at St. Patrick High School. He had a lasting impact on colleagues and students who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Mike will be remembered lovingly by his family, friends and the communities throughout Thunder Bay that he was involved in.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
