Mr. Michael (Wietse) Vis passed away peacefully on December 14, 2023, at the age of 89, in St. Joseph's Hospital. Just 8 days short of his goal of 90.
Born in Akkrum, Holland to the late Andrew Vis & Wiegertje DeHaan. He trained as a painter before coming to Canada in 1948.
Finally settling in Pembroke, ON he met and married Wilma Warlick. They had 4 boys, before transferring to Thunder Bay with Sherwin Williams, where a daughter was born. In 1984, he opened his own business 'Thunder Bay Paint Supplies' on May Street.
He is survived by his sons Peter (Caroline), Perry (Linda), Tim (Shelley), daughter Dyanna Phillips (Jeff), grandchildren Christina, Jonathon, Sarah, Brad, Conner, Matthew and Mitchell, and numerous great-grandchildren. Also his two sisters Janet and Florence.
Predeceased by his infant son Brian, and his wife Wilma.
Cremation has taken place, and a private ceremony will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers donations to charity would be appreciated.
