Mr. Michelangelo Pasqualino, age 94 years, son of Vincenzo and Maria Immacolata Pasqualino, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side in the T.B.R.H.S.C. on Monday, January 08, 2024.

Michelangelo was born in Siderno, Italy. At the age of 18, he moved to Australia to become a tailor where he worked and remained until the age of 24. At 22 years of age he married his first wife and from that marriage, his first daughter Mariella was born. In 1958 he immigrated to Canada and after his first wife became ill and passed away, he eventually returned to Italy and found the love of his life Marietta Macri whom he married on January 25, 1964, and was married to for 54 years. Shortly after their wedding, they started a new life in Fort William where he opened his own tailor shop on Victoria Ave called “Mike’s Tailor Shop”.

After helping numerous family members immigrate to Canada and having 3 young children, he decided to sell his business and went to work at Sears in the hopes of better supporting his family. It was here he spent many years making new friends in the menswear department. It was a common theme to go out with our dad and have countless people stop to say hi to him no matter where we were or for how long.

His lifelong focus was supporting and caring for his family, but Michelangelo loved his garden and would spend countless hours in the backyard. In his free time, he would be working on tailoring various items of clothing that people would personally drop off for him. In his later years, he especially loved visits from family and friends. He was a long-time member of St. Dominic’s R.C. Church as well as the DaVinci Centre.

Michelangelo will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his daughters Frances and Mariella, and his son Rob (Breanne), granddaughter Mikalah, sisters-in-law Nella (Bruno) and Antonietta and numerous nephews and nieces and family friends.

He was predeceased by his first wife Teresa and his second wife Marietta, his son Vincenzo, son-in-law Domenic, his brothers-in-law Joe and Vince, his parents, numerous brothers and sisters, and his mother-in-law Rosina and father-in-law Francesco.

The family would like to thank the staff of the VON, especially Heather, all the hospital staff on 3A and ICU, especially Dr. Philip George, and all the supporting family and friends during this difficult time.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 15, 2024, at St. Dominic’s R.C. Church with Rev. Michael Mahoney officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Entombment will take place at St. Andrew’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Online condolences may be expressed at www.sargentandson.com.
