Michele Barbaro

Mr. Michele Barbaro, age 92 years, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Thursday, February 4, 2016.

Mike was born in Guardavalle, Province of Catanzaro, Italy came to Port Arthur in 1951. He worked at area bush camps for Abitibi before moving to Fort William where he was employed at Fort William Sanitarium (Hogarth-Westmount Hospital) for 32 years before returning in 1988.

He was a member of the Italian Society of Port Arthur, and loved to socialize with friends at Victoriaville and Intercity Malls.

Mike is survived by his sister Theresa, along with nieces and nephews, all in Italy. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother Carmen in 1992.

A funeral services for Mr. Barbaro will be held in the chapel of the Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 N. Cumberland Street, on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., presided by Rev. Maurizio Maifredi of St. Dominic’s R.C. Church.

An entombment at Sunset Memorial Gardens will follow. Memorial donations to the T.B.R.H.S. Northern Cancer Fund or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
