Mira McLean, age 59 years, passed away peacefully in the early hours of February 17, 2017 in her home surrounded by family.

Mira was born in Port Arthur on September 13, 1957.  She attended Vance Chapman Public School and Lakeview High School before starting her career at Provincial Papers. She spent 28 years working in various roles in the mill, as it went through many changes before its closure in 2006.  Mira was quick to adapt to life’s challenges and soon began work at the CEP Action Centre assisting fellow workers in the forestry industry with learning new skills and beginning new careers. At 50 years old Mira enrolled at Confederation College in the Business – Accounting program. She excelled scholastically and in 2009 was awarded the highest academic standing in her program, as well as the President’s Award of Excellence for the School of Business, Hospitality and Media Arts.  Upon graduation she found employment with the Government of Ontario in the Ontario Shared Services Branch.  She took on additional work in a role that showcased her natural ability to teach at Oshki-Pimache-O-Win as a Business Instructor.

Mira was loved and appreciated for her ability to spiritually empower those around her, and encouraged her family and friends to invest in their own personal growth.  She loved to spend time outdoors in the tranquility of nature; whether it was relaxing out at camp on Hilma Lake, hiking the many trails at Sibley, or taking scenic rides to her favourite magical places in the bush. Mira’s love for her family, especially her two girls, was strong; she made every special occasion, birthday, and Christmas, meaningful and memorable.

Mira will be lovingly remembered by her life partner Roland, daughters Vanessa and Danielle (Justin), parents Gina and George, sister Michelle, brother Michael (Cerian), nephew and niece Ryan and Alyssa, numerous cousins, the father of her children and dear friend Greg, Roland’s sons Kaj, Scott, and Daniel, close friends Marina and Ingrid, as well as numerous other friends and colleagues.

Mira was predeceased by her brother-in-law Roger, uncle Milan, aunt Mitzi, godmother Renate and good friend Kay.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2017 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, presided by Pastor Mark Davenport.  Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Redwood Park Church at www.redwoodpark.ca.
