With heavy hearts the family of Nina McCullough announces her passing on Friday May 6, 2011 at the age of 87, following a brief illness, at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with her daughter by her side.

Nina was born June 14, 1923 in Newmarket, Ontario and moved to Port Arthur at an early age. She attended local schools, and lived in Thunder Bay all her life. She worked for Provincial Papers and The Metropolitan Store, before staying home to raise her family for several years.

She then returned to work at Port Arthur Motors, and Delmars Ladies Wear untill she retired with Russ to winter in Texas; a lifestyle they enjoyed for over 15 years.

Nina was proud of being a member of her Knitting Club, that has been a close group for over 70 years, and they will miss her. She loved the time she spent volunteering, socializing, enjoing bingo, and playing cards at the 55 Plus Centre. But it was family that was very important to her.

After the passing of her loving husband Russ, with whom she shared 62 great years, she moved to the Walford in May of 2008, where she enjoyed being with old friends and making new ones.

Nina will be sadly missed by the loving family she adored, son John (Vivianne) and their children Keith (Laura), Ryan (Jenine), and Cheryl (Claudio), her daughter Bev Gallimore (Blaine), and their children Sherri (Ryan) and Stacey (Patrick). Also survived by her grandchildren, Shaughn, and Laura Jean, great grandchildren, Liam, Cole, Jack, Callie, and Noah. Predeceased by her husband Russ in 2008, eldest son Larry 2007, her parents, and her siblings; Lawrence, Jim, Elizabeth, Edith (Babe). She remained close with her nieces, Marilyn, Susan, and Cathy.

Cremation has taken place and a funeral service for Nina McCullough will be held Thursday May 12th at 11:00 a.m. at the Sargent and Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, with Rev. Randy Boyd of Trinity United Church officiating.  Immediately following the service a reception will be held in the Sargent Family Reception Centre.

The interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery.   In lieu of Flowers, donations to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (Cardiac/Angio Plasty), St. Joseph’s Care Group, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
