The family wishes to announce the passing of Norman George Armand Cauchon at the ripe old age of 92. Norman passed on November 27, 2024, with his loving wife and family by his side at the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital.

Norman was born June 1, 1932, in Lachine, Quebec. He worked at Air Canada for 30 years and moved to Nipigon with his partner, Lore in 1998. They were married in September of 2005 where they supported each other until his final breath.  Norman was kind and made a big impression on everyone he met. He had a thirst for knowledge and passion for lifelong learning. He lived his life exactly how he wanted and cared about everyone around him.

Norman will be sadly missed by his wife Lore Cauchon, his children Norma Gene Girard (Fern), Ronnie Cauchon, Bruce Cauchon (Nicky) and James Demaine (Bonnie). His siblings, Elaine George (Brian), Barbara Mawhinney, Jerry Cauchon, and Brian Cauchon.  He was incredibly close with Lore’s siblings, Hans (Patricia) Neitchmann, Larry Neitchmann, Roy (Susie) Neitchmann and Rosie (Gary) Lajeunesse, as well as his numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Armand and Georgina Cauchon, his brothers Francis Cauchon, Ronald Cauchon and Raymond Cauchon and sisters-in-law Marion Cordone and Diana McLeod.

Norman's family wishes to thank the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital Staff. They were all so kind and thoughtful through Norman's visits while his health declined. They would also like to extend a thank you to the several community living groups that helped Norman with his final wishes of living at home as long as possible including, but not limited to, Wesway, Paramed and Partners in Rehab. Without his wife by his side and their support his wishes would not have been met.

Cremation has taken place.  A service to honour and remember Norman will be held on Feb 8 2025 at 1 pm at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Nipigon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on behalf of Norman Cauchon to the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times, 575 Central Ave, Thunder Bay.
