We are sorry to announce the passing of Olive Zegil, our Mom, grandmother, good friend and a sweet lady, who passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Pioneer Ridge at the age of 90 years. Olive's birth name is actually Olga. When she was a young girl, she and her sister, Teenie, discussed her name and decided to change it to a new prettier name, Olive. Mom grew up in Westfort and in her early years had worked in the drapery department at Chapples. Olive was a regular at Knox united church and sang beautifully in the choir. For over 20 years she lived at the Good Sheppard Village and was a regular with the "rug rat group", weaving and making rugs. She has entertained countless people with her singing and playing of both the accordion and piano. She continued to play both of these instruments by ear even at Pioneer Ridge where she spent the last 3 years. Her coordination to throw and catch was impeccable and gives no surprise that one of her favourite things to watch were baseball games with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Mom enjoyed her many trips to warm destinations with her daughter, Maureen, and grandson, Dustin, and was always the first one in the water. Danny and Mom played countless games of Chinese checkers for many years and she always won. Friday night sleepovers, followed up with a fantastic breakfast and Saturday morning cartoons was how Tyler and Sheena each spent one on one time with Granny.

Survived by her three children, Rod, Maureen and Danny, and grandchildren Tyler, Sheena and Dustin, her brother, Frank and (Veronica) Syrydiuk and Michael and (Susan) Syrydiuk. She is also survived by her favourite niece, June (George) Dzijacky, who always made her home welcome for everyone. Predeceased by her parents, Mike and Norah Syrydiuk, brother, Paul and (Mary) Syrydiuk, brother, Victor Syrydiuk, and sisters Cecelia Cheroski and Teenie Anderson.

Olive is very loved and will be dearly missed.

Visitation for friends will be held on Monday, April 30, 2018 from 1-3 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street. A private family service will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy memorials to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
